Book a Be ride right from the Hanoi Metro app — 15% off on transfers

The official Hanoi Metro app has added a feature letting you call a Be car or motorbike from the same screen. Released on August 14, this “connected booking” lays out a single itinerary from origin to destination combining the metro with a ride-hail leg, with ticket purchase and payment completed entirely inside the app. For people living in Hanoi and business travelers getting around the city by metro and ride-hail, it's an option that cuts out the back-and-forth between a maps app and a ride-hail app.

Call both Be cars and motorbikes from the same screen in the Hanoi Metro app

The system works both ways. On the Hanoi Metro app side, entering your origin and destination builds a single “Be–Metro–Be” itinerary, letting you arrange the ride to the station, the metro ticket, and the ride onward from the station all together. From Be's super-app, in turn, you can buy a metro ticket directly. Hanoi Metro developed and tested this for three months together with Be Group and the software developer Thang Long before releasing it.

Until now, connecting metro and ride-hail in Hanoi meant looking up the transfer station yourself and opening a separate ride-hail app again after getting off the metro. Consolidating trip planning and payment into a single app is the practical change here.the shift to IC cards for free bus travel— this sits on the metro side of the same push toward digitizing tickets.

15% off on connecting rides, up to 50,000 dong, for 30,000 codes through September 30

As a launch campaign, a 15% discount is automatically applied to Be rides starting or ending at a metro station. The cap is 50,000 dong (about ¥290) per ride, and beBike, beBike Plus, beCar, and beCar Plus are eligible. No coupon code is needed — the discount is deducted automatically once conditions are met. It's capped at 30,000 codes, running through September 30.

Item Details
Discount rate 15% (applied automatically, no code needed)
Discount cap 50,000 dong per ride (about ¥290 / about $1.90)
Eligible vehicle types beBike / beBike Plus / beCar / beCar Plus
Number of codes available 30,000 codes
Period August 14 – September 30, 2026

Exchange rates are approximate: ¥1 ≈ 175 dong, $1 ≈ ¥148 (as of August 2026). 50,000 dong is equivalent to about ¥290 / about $1.90.

The 50,000-dong cap per ride is set at a level you generally won't hit if you're taking a beCar just a few kilometers from a station. It's designed with short-distance pickups and drop-offs in mind, not as a way to make long car trips cheaper. Put another way, if you already take a ride-hail to the station regularly, the discount simply applies on top of the trip you were already making.

Covers Lines 2A and 3, aimed at filling in the “last mile” beyond the station

Hanoi's metro still consists of only two lines — Line 2A (Cat Linh–Ha Dong, opened November 2021) and the elevated section of Line 3 (Nhon–Cau Giay, opened August 2024) — so the network doesn't cover the city broadly. The last few kilometers from the station to home or work, the so-called first/last mile, tend to be a gap, and that gap has been a reason people avoid the metro. This integration clearly aims to fill that gap with ride-hail and, in turn, boost metro ridership itself.

A Hanoi Metro official has said that combining the strengths of both services “carries real significance for building a modern public transit network.” The city is simultaneously pushing forwardthe simultaneous start of construction on five metro linesandthe electrification of bus routesand as the network extends, demand for station-connecting rides will grow with it. For the domestically owned Be, in a Hanoi ride-hail market where Grab holds a strong position, this is also a move to build more touchpoints with users through the public infrastructure of the metro as an entry point.

How residents and business travelers can get the most out of this

  • On stretches where you'd rather avoid a rainy-season afternoon or the midday heat, the 15% still applies even if you take a beCar instead of a beBike to the station.
  • Even if the metro doesn't reach your destination, a ride-hail trip that starts or ends at the nearest station still qualifies for the discount. Building a trip where only part of it runs on the metro pays off.
  • Noi Bai Airport isn't yet connected to the city by metro. Airport transfers themselves aren't eligible for the discount — it only applies to legs that start or end at a station.
  • Payment is completed entirely inside the app, with no need to carry cash or negotiate a fare with the driver. The less confident you are in Vietnamese, the more hassle this saves.

Try the whole route once before the end of September, and it changes how you plan trips after that

Since the discount is capped at 30,000 codes, it could run out on a first-come basis. Whether you live in Hanoi or travel there for business toward Cau Giay or Ha Dong, booking a full “Be–Metro–Be” trip once before September 30 lets you feel for yourself whether combining metro and ride-hail on your own route is faster than fighting traffic on a motorbike. If it's already this usable with only two lines running, your default way of getting around is likely to shift once more lines open. It's enough to start by updating the app and trying one round trip from a station you use often.
