TheWhale Island Resorthere is a slow-stay retreat with no Wi-Fi and no air conditioning, where you surrender to nature. A coral reef spreads right beside the restaurant, and step into the sea and you can go straight into snorkeling—a coral paradise.

The island gets its name from the whales seen in the surrounding waters from around April to July. Bungalows built from rustic materials—bamboo, wood, and stone—harmonize with the untouched nature.

An uninhabited-island resort reached from Nha Trang

Hon Ong Island (also known as Palm Island) sits in Van Phong Bay, about 110 km from Nha Trang. The resort has 31 eco-bungalows incorporating the style of Cham culture, and of six room types, 14 have ocean views. The construction using bamboo, wood, and stone creates a sense of oneness with nature.

Snorkeling and diving in a coral paradise

The big draw is that a coral reef lies right in front of the restaurant, so you can snorkel with ease. From March to October, a PADI-certified dive center holds diving lessons and boat trips. Windsurfing, kayaking, and catamarans are also available—no shortage of ocean activities.

A slow stay that enjoys “deliberate inconvenience”

As a serious eco-resort, the rooms have neither Wi-Fi nor air conditioning. Away from the digital world, spending time slowly amid the sound of the waves and the sea breeze—it’s a retreat where you can savor that kind of luxury. From April to July, when whales can be seen, hopes rise for encounters with sea creatures.
