Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts will open the "Four Seasons Hotel Hanoi at Hoan Kiem Lake" by the shore of Hoan Kiem Lake, the symbol of Hanoi's Old Quarter, in the second half of 2026. A 95-room luxury hotel incorporating French colonial architectural design, it was also named in "the 50 most exciting new hotels in the world opening in 2026" chosen by the U.S. travel media Matador Network.

The development partner is the Vietnamese private conglomerate BRG Group. The design is handled by WATG Architects, and the interior design by SRSS Interior Design Studio. Within Vietnam it's the second location after The Nam Hai in Hoi An, and for Four Seasons it becomes an important base in its Southeast Asia strategy.

The full picture of Four Seasons Hotel Hanoi

This hotel, standing on the shore of Hoan Kiem Lake, has 95 rooms and suites. Taking Hanoi's colonial architecture, shaped under French rule from the late 19th to early 20th century, as the design keynote, it fuses elements like high ceilings, arched windows, and tiled floors with modern comfort.

The building houses three dining facilities: an all-day dining, a lounge, and a rooftop bar. Hanoi is known as a "food capital," a mecca of street food like banh mi, pho, and bun cha. Four Seasons' dining is required to have a quality that can coexist with this powerful local food scene.

It's also fully equipped with a spa, swimming pool, fitness center, and meeting spaces. Making use of its location at the heart of the Old Quarter, it caters to both tourism and business demand.

The specialness of the Hoan Kiem Lake location

Hoan Kiem Lake is the lake dividing Hanoi's Old Quarter and new town, a place of rest for residents and the center of sightseeing. On the lakeshore are Ngoc Son Temple and the Turtle Tower, and every morning residents enjoying tai chi and jogging can be seen by the lake.

Within walking distance, the Old Quarter's (36 streets) markets, galleries, and street-food stalls are densely packed. The French Quarter is also within walking distance, with easy access to French-era architecture like St. Joseph's Cathedral and the Opera House.

A Four Seasons-class hotel entering this location is an event that rewrites Hanoi's tourism map. Conventionally, Hanoi's top-class hotels (Sofitel Legend Metropole, JW Marriott, etc.) were located on the outer edge of the Old Quarter, but a five-star rising right in the middle of the lakeshore can be called groundbreaking.

Local and industry reactions

Matador Network selected Four Seasons Hanoi for "the 50 most exciting new hotels in the world opening in 2026," highly rating the fusion of its Hoan Kiem Lake location and food culture.

In Hanoi's tourism industry, expectations are high that Four Seasons' entry will boost luxury tourism in the Old Quarter area. A powerful competitor will appear for the "finest hotel" seat in Hanoi, which Metropole has long monopolized.

The developer, BRG Group, is a major player operating golf courses and resort businesses within Vietnam, and its partnership with Four Seasons was announced in 2017. The opening after about nine years from conception tells of the project's scale and commitment to quality.
