A large theme park on offshore Hon Tre Island, a complex where you can play all day, gathering a scream machine, water park, aquarium, indoor game area, and more. Its biggest signature is the over-sea ropeway connecting the city and Hon Tre Island, letting you take in Nha Trang Bay and the islands from the air where the towers stretch out in a row. The ropeway takes just under 10 minutes one way, running from morning to night. Recommended for families and thrill-ride lovers, using a ticket that bundles admission and a round-trip ropeway goes smoothly.
Po Nagar Towers
A complex of brick Hindu temples from the Champa Kingdom era, standing on a small hill overlooking the Cai River. Built between the 8th and 13th centuries, the main tower enshrining the goddess Po Nagar, said to have taught the people farming and weaving, remains, and worship continues inside even now. The highlights are the carvings on the weathered red brick walls and the view of the river and townscape from atop the hill. About 2 km north of the city center, so close, and since it's cool with few people right after the morning opening, the trick is to visit in clothing that covers the shoulders and knees.
Mud baths (such as Thap Ba hot spring)
A bathing facility in northern Nha Trang known for mud baths where you sink your body into mineral-rich mud. Thap Ba hot spring is a pioneering presence that spread mud therapy in this area, and the classic flow is to finish a mud bath by rinsing off in a warm mineral spring, jet bath, or outdoor pool. The reasons for its popularity are the feeling of smooth skin and the atmosphere you can enjoy boisterously with family or a group. Being in the same northern area as the Po Nagar Towers, touring it together in half a day along with the temple visit is efficient.
Long Son Pagoda
An ancient temple in the city of Nha Trang, known for the 24 m white great Buddha enshrined atop a hill. Climb the stone steps continuing from behind the main hall and you come out at the foot of the great Buddha, taking in a panorama of the city including the sea and islands. Reliefs of the monks who gave their lives in protest against the 1963 Buddhist persecution are set around the pedestal, and you feel its weight as a place of faith too. Admission is free, and since you climb the stairs, easy-to-walk-in shoes and clothing that covers the shoulders and knees are recommended.
Seafood market and seafood street
Nha Trang is a town with a fishing port, and at markets and seaside eateries you can pick the shrimp, crab, shellfish, and fish caught that day and have them cooked. Specifying your favorite seafood from the tank and having it made into steamed, grilled, or tamarind-sauce stir-fried dishes is the standard way to enjoy it. The pairing of freshness and value is why it's popular, and it bustles from evening on. Confirming the weight and price before ordering gives peace of mind.

We've compiled in a table the local flavors worth savoring in Nha Trang.
Dish
Characteristics
Bun Cha Ca
A fish somen representing Nha Trang, characterized by a clean broth taken from fish scraps like tuna and mackerel. Fish-paste balls, fish cake, and aromatic vegetables top the rice noodles, and you season it to taste with chili and lime as you eat. It's a light bowl fitting for a seaside town, different from the pho of beef or pork bones.
Seafood
As befits a fishing-port town, an abundance of seafood dishes using shrimp, crab, shellfish, squid, and the like are available. Savoring the freshness of the ingredients with simple cooking like steaming, charcoal-grilling, or tamarind-sauce stir-frying is the local way. The real joy is being able to choose from the day's catch at seaside eateries and markets.
Nem nuong (nem nuong)
A dish said to originate in nearby Ninh Hoa, where seasoned ground pork is wrapped on a skewer and charcoal-grilled. You wrap the freshly grilled nem, along with crisply fried rice paper and fresh vegetables, in another sheet of rice paper and eat it dipped in a sweet-and-savory sauce. The combination of the savoriness, the vegetables' texture, and the sauce is addictive.
Bun sua (jellyfish rice noodles)
A refreshing rice-noodle soup topped with crunchy jellyfish. A clear broth taken from pork bones and dried shrimp is combined with pork and aromatic vegetables, and tightened up with lime and chili. Its lightness suits the hot climate, a local flavor fitting for a seaside town.
Banh can
A bite-sized local snack where rice-flour batter is baked golden in a special small mold. Some add shrimp or quail eggs, and you eat them piping hot with scallion oil or a sweet-and-sour sauce. A light meal you can casually savor at stalls and markets, beloved by locals.
How many days do I need for Nha Trang sightseeing?
To tour the main sights, at least 2–3 days is a guide. If you also combine food and day trips to nearby cities, an itinerary with a bit more room is recommended.
Does English work in Nha Trang?
English gets through at major tourist spots, hotels, and the airport. At local stalls and individual taxis it may not, so downloading the offline Japanese pack of the Google Translate app gives peace of mind.
What's the convenient way to get around Nha Trang?
The ride-hailing app Grab (the Southeast Asian Uber) is most recommended for safety and clear pricing. For street taxis, using only reliable brand cars like "Mai Linh" and "Vinasun" is the safe bet. For short distances, motorbike taxis (Grab bike) are also useful.
Can I use credit cards in Nha Trang?
Mid-range and higher hotels, tourist-oriented restaurants, and large supermarkets accept Visa/Master. However, stalls, local eateries, and markets are basically cash. Carrying around about 500,000–2,000,000 dong (about 3,000–13,000 yen) in cash a day gives peace of mind.
Popular hotels in Da Nang, Hoi An, and Ho Chi Minh City are bookable at discounted prices. Many properties offer same-day booking and free cancellation, so you can adapt flexibly to last-minute changes of plan on the ground.
