トゥエンクアン省交通局が発表した新規制は、旅行者の安全確保と地域の持続可能な観光を両立させることを目的としている。
Speed limits and helmet regulations
- Limiting the maximum speed in mountain sections to 30 km/h(previously there was no clear limit, and it was effectively at one’s own risk)
- Raising the fine for not wearing a helmet to 500,000 dong (about 3,000 yen). Checkpoints will be set up at major points
- In dangerous sections including the Ma Pi Leng Pass,motorbike riding after sunset (after 18:00) is prohibited in principle
Development of rest zones and an emergency system
Along the roughly 350-km loop, newly8 designated rest zoneshave been established. Each zone is equipped with restrooms, drinking water, and a simple medical kit, and mobile-phone reception is ensured. A 24-hour emergency center has been newly established in central Dong Van, and a helicopter-transport system for when accidents occur has also been developed.
