Background—DIFF’s history and the significance of 2026

DIFF (Da Nang International Fireworks Festival) began in 2008 and has grown into a core event supporting Da Nang’s tourism brand. It was interrupted from 2020 to 2022 due to COVID-19, but has kept expanding in scale since resuming. With 10 teams taking part, 2026 is the largest edition ever. Another highlight is that two teams from Vietnam (representing Da Nang / Z21 Vina Pyrotech) are competing.

For Japanese travelers—access and recommendations

From Japan, there are direct flights to Da Nang from Narita, Kansai, and Chubu. The venue on the banks of the Han River is about 15 minutes by Grab from Da Nang International Airport. Traffic around the area gets very congested, so a ride-share or a hotel shuttle bus is recommended.

The third night (June 13) is Japan’s competition day. You can cheer on the Japanese team’s fireworks while enjoying the face-off with the Italian team. Free viewing is possible from the riverside promenade and around the Dragon Bridge.

After watching the fireworks,a day-trip excursion to Hueis also a good option to combine. Da Nang to Hue is about two hours by car.

Sights around Da Nang—enjoy them together with the Son Tra night market

The famousMi Quangspots near the Dragon Bridge, and local food at the Son Tra night market (che troi, grilled rice paper, seafood skewers), are also part of the fun on fireworks nights. At the night market, you can sample a range of Vietnam’s casual street eats at reasonable prices.
