What is the Banh Mi Festival: experiencing Vietnam's soul food over four days
Banh mi is a sandwich in which the food culture of the French colonial era evolved in its own way in Vietnam. Using a French baguette while stuffing it with char siu pork, pate, pickled vegetables, herbs, chili, and more, it is a distinctively Vietnamese dish. In 2023 it was even floated as a candidate for UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, drawing global attention.
The theme of this 4th festival is "Vietnam's banh mi: a global food value spreading across the world's five continents." More than 150 shops and booths, from traditional banh mi to creative versions, will gather from all over Vietnam, offering a lively food-culture experience from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
