The benefits for Japanese travelers
Your final day becomes "entirely your own"
The biggest source of stress on a Phu Quoc trip is the airport transfer on the final day. It takes 30-50 minutes from the resort area to the airport, and in peak season a long line forms at the check-in counter. If you can use hotel check-in,you can spend the morning at the beach or spa and then head to the airport unencumberedand travel light.
Phu Quoc has a 30-day visa exemptionwhich is why Japanese travelers have a high repeat rate. This service benefits long-stay guests the most, and the added value of "enjoying the island even on departure day" is likely to encourage longer stays as well.
Points to note and how to prepare
- During the pilot period,up to 6 hours before departureyou need to complete hotel check-in
- Excess baggage (over 23 kg) is handled at the airport counter
- International routes such as Vietjet's Hanoi-Shizuoka flightare not covered for now, but if your itinerary connects domestically via Ho Chi Minh City you can still use it
- Some booking classes may not be eligible, so check the airline's latest information in advance
At the forefront of Vietnam's tourism DX
Hotel-based flight check-in has precedents at luxury resorts in Thailand's Phuket and the Maldives, but it's a first for Vietnam. As Phu Quoc raises its international profile as one of "Asia's best islands," investing in tourism DX becomes a differentiator in service quality.
Japanese travel to Vietnam up 39%With Japanese travel to Vietnam surging, easing airport congestion ties directly to raising the island's overall hospitality. If you're considering a trip to Phu Quoc, it's worth adding these participating hotels to your shortlist.
