        When you order noodles like pho or bun, a spoon is placed along with the chopsticks. Once you place the noodles on the spoon, you can eat them without slurping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Don't put your mouth to the vessel<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        In Vietnam, there isn't much of a culture of eating by putting your mouth to the rice bowl. In Vietnam you basically scoop and eat with a spoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The correct way to use the rice bowl and saucer<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        A rice bowl and a plate (saucer) may be placed stacked on the table. This is said to be a remnant of the French colonial era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          It's a scene often seen at casual restaurants and is full of energy.

          \"Two-person chopsticks\" is no problem<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

          In Japan, \"two-person chopsticks\"\u2014two people gripping one piece of food at the same time\u2014is considered taboo. It's because it evokes the motion of picking up the bones of the deceased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          But in Vietnam it's a commonly seen scene with no problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          There's no need for Japanese to deliberately do \"two-person chopsticks,\" but even if you see it, it's best to take it as a cultural difference.

          Wipe your spoon and chopsticks with paper before eating<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

          It's not seen much at high-end places, but at local restaurants it's common to wipe your spoon and chopsticks with the paper napkins on the table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
