On July 25, 2026, Sun PhuQuoc Airways launched a daily direct flight between Singapore and Phu Quoc. Since this segment previously required a connection in places like Ho Chi Minh City, there's now a new option to reach the island while skipping the wait at a hub airport. For travelers touring Southeast Asia via Singapore and residents based in the region, it widens route-planning options a notch.

9G721 departs Phu Quoc at 10:35 and 9G720 departs Singapore at 14:20, one flight daily each

Service is one flight daily, seven a week. From Phu Quoc, 9G721 leaves at 10:35 a.m. and reaches Singapore Changi at 1:20 p.m. The return 9G720 departs Singapore at 2:20 p.m. and arrives in Phu Quoc at 3:05 p.m. It fits neatly into daytime hours, making it easy to plan a day -- leave the island in the morning and get moving in Singapore in the afternoon, or depart Singapore in the early afternoon and reach the island before evening. The aircraft, per several aviation-schedule outlets, is said to be an Airbus A321neo. The operator frames itself as the first carrier to serve this route on a full-service model, and Singapore is its fourth international destination.

23kg手荷物・機内食込みのフルサービス、片道は現地報道で約S$133から

This flight is run as full-service, not a price-fighting budget carrier. The fare includes 23 kg of checked baggage plus in-flight meals and drinks. Children's (ages 2–12) fares are set at 75% of the adult fare, making it easy for families to travel. Passengers also get perks such as a cable-car ticket to Phu Quoc's Sun World Hon Thom (Hon Thom island) and up to 30% off lodging, dining, spa, and activities. That the operating parent is a group running Phu Quoc's tourist facilities connects directly to these on-island perks.

No more reclaiming baggage or re-clearing security on a connection, bringing island arrival into the two-hour range

Until now, getting from Singapore to Phu Quoc basically meant landing somewhere like Ho Chi Minh City and transferring to a domestic flight. A transfer brings not just wait time but the hassle of re-collecting checked bags and going through security again. With a direct flight, this whole chain of friction disappears. Judging by 9G720's schedule, the journey stays in the two-hour range -- a light trip to reach an island. But keep in mind it's one flight a day. With a single round trip, the room to rebook when there's a delay or a full flight is smaller than on a multi-flight route, so on a tight itinerary it's reassuring to build buffer into the plans on either side.

Phu Quoc's direct network expands after Hai Phong and Chengdu, with a Japan route also planned

On the Phu Quoc side, direct routes from home and abroad are opening one after another for this summer. From the north,A Hai Phong–Phu Quoc direct flight launched the same day, July 25and, from inland China,A direct flight from Chengdu linked the island for the first time. This Singapore flight is the international-route move in that direct-network expansion. Sun PhuQuoc Airways plans to launch a Bangkok route on August 8, and is reported to be planning routes to Malaysia, India, Japan, Russia and Kazakhstan besides. If a Japan route takes shape, Phu Quoc could become an island resort a step closer from Japan. The A330 is also slated for medium- and long-haul use, and the groundwork for destinations reaching farther afield is coming together.

Families get 75% child fares plus on-island discounts; first check whether the times fit your schedule

The direct flight works for itineraries that use Singapore as a start or waypoint. Spend a few days in Singapore then head straight to a resort on the island, or conversely, after a beach stay in Phu Quoc, slip in shopping and dining in Singapore before flying home — all without a connection. For families, a combination of 75%-off child fares and on-island discounts works; for baggage-heavy resort stays, a full-service fare with baggage included is easy to handle. For a light, quick trip, it's worth comparing prices against going via an LCC.

If you're thinking through how to spend your time on Phu Quoc, it's worth looking at the island's events too. This summer,Vietnam's first international flute music festival runs six days in Phu Quoc. The reason domestic fares change by time of day isAn article on why late-night flights are cheapergoes into detail. First, for your own itinerary, check whether the times of 9G720 (Singapore, departs 2:20 p.m.) and 9G721 (Phu Quoc, departs 10:35 a.m.) fit, and build the surrounding plans around the one-flight-a-day frame.

Sources

Sun PhuQuoc Airways launches direct Singapore – Phu Quoc service（VnExpress International）
Sun PhuQuoc Airways Takes Off with Inaugural Direct Daily Flights（Alvinology）
Sun PhuQuoc Airways Plans late-July 2026 Singapore Launch（AeroRoutes）

[19,21,427
691,564,537,368,652
["post-4040","news","type-news","status-publish","hentry","category-news","category-travel","category-transport","tag-691","tag-564","tag-537","tag-368","tag-652
["GET
