The newly established airline"Sun PhuQuoc Airways"has launched international routes in quick succession since the start of 2026, with a Seoul (Incheon) route opening on April 17.

Sun PhuQuoc Airways' 2026 route rollout

Line

Launch date

Flight frequency

Taipei (Taoyuan)–Phu Quoc

March 29, 2026

Regular service

Seoul (Incheon)–Phu Quoc

April 17, 2026

One flight a day (planned to expand to two in the future)

Hong Kong–Phu Quoc

May 22, 2026 (planned)

Five flights a week

Busan–Phu Quoc

June 2026 (planned)

Not yet announced

The airline also aims to roll out nine Asian routes, includingSingapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, New Delhi, and Mumbai, and the move to rapidly turn Phu Quoc Island into a direct-flight hub for the Asia-Pacific is clear.

Why are direct flights to Phu Quoc increasing now?

Several factors lie behind it.

1. The 30-day visa exemption

Phu Quoc Island offers foreign touristsa 30-day visa exemption.Even among Southeast Asian resorts, its entry hurdle is low, and demand from South Korean, Taiwanese, and Hong Kong travelers is surging.

2. A rapid acceleration in infrastructure

Expansion work at Phu Quoc International Airport is under way, and as of 2026 it can handle over 8 million passengers a year. A wave of five-star resort openings continues too, and the capacity to welcome tourists is being put in place.

3. A surge in tourists in Q1 2026

In just the two months of January–February 2026, Phu Quoc Island welcomedover 2.2 million tourists,up57.7% year on year.Of these, foreign travelers rose 86.4% to about 600,000.

How to get from Japan to Phu Quoc (as of April 2026)

Unfortunately, as of April 2026,there are no direct flights between Japan and Phu Quoc. For now you'll need to go via a connecting point, but the following routes are common:

Via Ho Chi Minh City: Japan → Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Son Nhat Airport) → Phu Quoc (1–2 hour connection)

Via Hanoi: Japan → Hanoi (Noi Bai Airport) → Phu Quoc

Via Seoul (a new option): Japan → Seoul → Phu Quoc (usable as a connecting itinerary from April 17 onward)

A Japan route may launch in the future, so keep an eye on upcoming announcements.

Phu Quoc's highlights—the latest for 2026

Phu Quoc is known as a beach resort, but in recent years its hands-on sightseeing spots have grown richer too.

Sao Beach: A beach boasting emerald-green clarity. Popular as a snorkeling spot too

Grand World: The theme-park facilities were significantly expanded over 2025–26

Phu Quoc National Park: Untouched jungle trekking and mangrove forests

Night market: Experience local seafood and meals at the market in Duong Dong

Summary

In 2026, the wave of new services to Phu Quoc Island continues, and access from Asian countries is improving dramatically. The expansion of the direct-flight network is expected to drive a further rise in tourist numbers, and the development of resort facilities is accelerating too.

A direct flight from Japan is awaited, but until then, a Phu Quoc trip using connections is plenty appealing. Why not consider Phu Quoc Island as a destination for the summer holidays or the period after Golden Week?

Related articles:Vietnam welcomes a record 6.76 million foreign visitors in Q1 2026｜the Hue Festival 2026 kicking off in late April.

Reference:VnExpress, "Sun PhuQuoc Airways opens ticket sales for Phu Quoc-Hong Kong route" (April 1, 2026)

Sun PhuQuoc Airwaysが2026年3月29日に台北〜フーコック、4月17日に仁川〜フーコック路線を就航し、5月22日には香港〜フーコック便を週5便で開通予定。フーコックがアジア直行便ハブに急浮上している。
[19,427
286,232,367
["post-1783","news","type-news","status-publish","hentry","category-news","category-transport","tag-286","tag-phu-quoc-island","tag-367
["GET
